That there is a School Community Network?

The WDMCS is dedicated to involving our parents in what we do. Made up of parents, teachers and administrators from across the district, this group provides an opportunity for a face-to-face exchange of ideas and information. Its members also help us share information about district with the community.

Meetings of the School Community Network are typically the third Tuesday of the month starting at 9:15 a.m. at the Learning Resource Center, 3550 Mills Civic Parkway, West Des Moines, Iowa.

Did You Know

That the district has new snack guidelines?

The West Des Moines School District has created a list of approved snack and grocery store items that can be brought to school for parties and other special occasions. If your student has a birthday or holiday parties are coming up, please check the approved list. If you purchase something that is not on the list you will NOT be allowed to bring to your student's classroom. Please click here for classroom snack items and click here for approved grocery store snacks. Please be advised, home-made snacks are never allowed at school. Thank you for your understanding.

There are certain drop off and pick up doors for each grade to use when entering or exiting the building.

At Clive Learning Academy, we are faced with the challenge of being located on a busy street. We continue to make the safety of our students a priority, and we ask for your help in the following ways:


Drop-off areas

  • Drop off students for Kids West at the northwest cafeteria doors

  • Drop off students who eat breakfast at school at the main entrance (between 8:30-8:50 a.m.)

  • Drop off students in kindergarten and first grade (along with their siblings) at the south entrance, to enter building at 8:50 a.m.

  • Drop off students second, third, and fourth grades at the main entrance, to enter at 8:50 a.m.

  • Drop off students in fifth and sixth grades behind the building, to enter at 8:50 a.m.


Exit process

  • From the main entrance, please use the entire loop behind the building before exiting in the front.

  • Please avoid cutting the corner around the orange cones. This will help the traffic flow and eliminate traffic from backing up along 73rd Street.

  • Please use the inside lane (closest to the building) for loading students. The outside lane should be used for exiting the parking lots in both the main lot and the south entrance. The outside lane should not be used for loading students.

  • With your help and assistance, we can successfully get our students to and from school safely and with minimal disruption to anyone’s schedule. Thank you!

Clive has a new visitor check-in system called Raptor.

Visitors will need to check in at the main office upon arriving and present a valid state-issued ID.

  • The office staff will scan the ID through the Raptor system, which only pulls the visitor's name, date of birth, and photo for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders.

  • If no match is found, the system will print a visitor's sticker.

  • The self-expiring sticker will identify the person as an approved visitor and include the date and time and a picture of the visitor.

  • The visitor must wear the sticker during their visit and it must be visible.

  • Visitors will need to check out at the main office prior to leaving.

Parents, Students, Families & Staff of Clive Learning Academy may purchase items at the Clive Spirit Wear website/store. The website will be open for orders from September 1-29 (midnight). Orders should be back by Monday, October 16, 2017.

Many Des Moines area companies will match a donation made to Clive

Ask your company/employer if they would be willing to match a donation you make to Clive Learning Academy. Last year, we had matches from companies such as Wellmark and Wells Fargo. In most cases, donations are tax write-offs as we are a non profit group. We accept donations all year around. Need a form? Click the button to email us.

If you don't sign a photo release, your child will not appear in any school photos.

In order for a child to appear online or in print photos, the parent/guardian must sign a release form. Email the office and ask about "Photo Release Forms" if you have further questions.
